Ted : a film with much more anticipation which delivers only to the immature – 3/5

“From the makers of Family Guy” they said. I like that show so this should be good. So so so wrong. Where Family Guy is clever and shows variety of jokes keeping viewers engaged this film is just fart joke after drug joke with overuse of unfunny 9/11 “humour”.

Well the premise is a young child’s wish for their teddy to come alive to give him a companion comes true. Time goes by and they are inseparable but the fame and celebrity of being a live toy takes its toll on the bear. Ted then becomes an obstacle to the now grown child’s budding relationship. It’s Ted or the girl.

The film had real potential with a great plot but the script let it down immensely. Perhaps I’m not the target audience but just clear at 30mins in it’s not my cup of tea, not what I was expected and frankly waiting for the predictable end to arrive. The only true saving grace of the film is the superb bear animation and human-cgi interaction which is the only reason this film is not reduced to 2/5.

BTW: First post using the iPhone WordPress app which has been easier than I expected but explains the bizarre layout.
